What
is it?
An eBook is a digital book or publication
which has been created to be marketed on the Internet. Therefore
the size, structure and design have had to be correctly modified
to ensure correct visualisation, transmission time ( download
time) and user possibilities.
EBooks offer many advantages:
Universal access. Wherever
you live in the world, if you have Internet access you can buy
the eBooks we offer, without delays or shipping costs.
Immediate availibility. Buy,
download and read it is that easy.
Cheaper retail price. There
is no paper, ink or any intermediary distributor, therefore the price
is lower.
New tools. The electronic
text incorporates the advantages of an electronic file like search,
and the interactivity of the web format like navigation
between pages,...
Main
characteristics
One of the main characteristics
of eBooks is that to protect author and publisher rights, eBooks
may not be printed or copied unless permission is given to do
so by the publisher or owner. In the file for each of the eBooks
on the Todoebook site you can see the permissions given for each
title ( printing, copying or lending)
Each eBook remains linked to the computer where it
was downloaded. Therefore if you want an eBook, make sure
that you download it on to the computer from where you are going
to read it.
E-books are bought exclusively from the Internet and must be
paid for by credit card. Either VISA, 4B or MASTERCARD.
Prerequisites
To download an eBook you need :
A personal computer (PC Pentium 200 or Mac) or a laptop with
at least 6MB of free hard disc space.
For the downloading
of encrypted eBook it is essential that you have installed
as a reader Adobe
Digital Editions or Adobe
Reader 6 or 7 which can be free downloaded. Also remember
Adobe Reader 6 or 7, once it is installed, must be properly
certificated on Adobe site
How
are they read?
Electronic books are read from a computer
screen, be it a personal computer, a Macintosh or a laptop. The
reader programme Adobe Reader is required to download and visualise
them. The pages appear on the screen in the same form as in a
book, and using the page navigator incorporated in the Adobe
Digital Editions or Adobe
Reader 6 or 7
you can turn the pages or jump from one to another as you wish.
With Adobe Digital Editions or Adobe
Reader 6 or 7 you can search words on your eBooks and
also serves as a library on your computer allowing
you to arrange your eBooks.
How
are they bought?
To buy an eBook the following steps are
required:
1. Have the free download programme Adobe
Digital Editions or Adobe
Reader 6 or 7 installed on your computer. Also
remember Adobe Reader 6 or 7, once it is installed, must
be properly certificated on Adobe site.
2. Select the eBook you want to buy. You can search for books
by author, title, subject or publisher. When you find what you
want, click on Buy now.
3. Follow the steps given in the "shopping basket"
section. In Todoebook we use a secure server to guarantee the confidentiality
of the information entered on our site, including the transactions made
there.
4. Download the book to read it. To download the eBook you have
bought, go to My account,
where you must identify yourself using your e-mail address
and password which will then allow you to continue the
buying process, select the book to be downloaded and click on
download. Remember that the book will remain linked to the
computer where it was first downloaded, in other words, it
is imperative that you download the book on to the computer where
you want to read it from, as it is possible that you may not be
able to copy, print or transfer it to a different machine at a
later stage. It is possible to buy a book from one computer
and download it on to another.
The eBooks which you do not download on to your computer immediately
after buying them reamin active for a month from the date
they were bought.
